The AMFS presents : The National - A Skin A Night
Lakeshore Record Exchange and the Memorial Art Gallery announce the November Film in their Alternative Music Film Series: The National - A Skin, A Night
Rochester, NY November 4, 2013 -
On Friday, November 15th, Lakeshore Record Exchange in conjunction with The Memorial Art Gallery, debut the next film in the Alternative Music Film Series: The National – A Skin, A Night (2008).
Director Vincent Moon's film about The National begins with black and white snippets of the band performing live, accompanied by their slow-building sound, setting the stage for an unconventional portrait of a band at work. Ostensibly, Moon's film focuses on the band making their fifth, and what would go on to be their most successful album to date, The Boxer. Yet there is much more at work here than a typical music documentary. Moon makes use of cityscapes, landsapes and still images to paint a unique picture of the band at work – offering a more complete picture of the band and it's members.
Cocktails at 6 PM in the Gallery Atrium.
The film at 7 PM in the Auditorium.
