Brand New Exclusives - Street Date 5/26/2009...

DEASTRO "Moondagger" (Ghostly International - GI 85) DBL.CD (UPC: 804297908526 - CDDEASTMoon) DEASTRO "Moondagger" (Ghostly International - GI 85) LP+CD (UPC: 804297908519 - LPDEASTMoon)

(STREET DATE - 6/02/2009) ***When RANDOLPH CHABOT, the 22-year-old auteur behind DEASTRO, is asked about the title of his new album, he recounts a dream about a prince, a kingdom, an evil King of Darkness, and a search for the mythical "Moondagger," the bearer of which wields ultimate power. And while Moondagger, Deastro's astonishing new album, does contain traces of that dream-in all of its bittersweet, fantasy-novel glory-the record itself is infinitely more down-to-earth, containing the sort of unrelentingly earnest, inspirational pop music that could only come from a kid weaned on fiction but living desperately, joyously in the here-and-now. Moondagger expands upon the positive electro-pop of Keepers-Deastro's home-recorded opus from 2008-with the addition of a full band. Thankfully, the mercurial, prolific Chabot still seems blissfully unaware of his music's genreless-ness. Thick, atmospheric production obscures bright, starry-eyed melodies; ecstatic synth squiggles dance around new-wave beats on songs about Nordics, toxic crusaders, and geometric shapes; arrangement ideas bounce off one another within ambitious song structures that swerve left, then right, then left again. And yet underneath all of their seeming irreverence, Deastro's songs are breathtakingly down-to-earth-melodic slices of synth-led experimental pop whose energy builds with each iteration of the chorus, hitting emotional peak after emotional peak until they collapse in a heap. Includes a bonus CD of Keepers, Deastro's first proper release. No Exports outside of North America.

RUBIES "I Feel Electric" (Telle - TELLE 027) 12"  (UPC: 7035538885884 - lprubiefeel)

***The first of two new 12-inches from RUBIES. Rubies are an extremely well connected female duo based in San Francisco. Lead singer SIMONE RUBI not only designed the artwork for FEIST's's critically acclaimed album The Reminder but also provides backing vocals both on the album and live at the American Grammy Awards in 2008. The European release of the new single "I Feel Electric" has already got rave reviews by Artrocker, I-DJ, and Metro amongst others and has been played by Radio 1, BBC 6 and XFM. Their music has been described as bedroom disco crossed with danceable folk and comparisons can be drawn with both Kings of Convenience and Whitest Boy Alive which is perhaps no coincidence as ELRIK GLAMBECK BOE provides guest vocals on their debut album Explode From The Center (ucpoming). One of the worlds most sought after remixers Swedish duo STUDIO (Kylie Minogue, Shout Out Louds) provides the Scando-Balearic remix of "A Room Without A Key" on the B-Side of the 12-inch and MAX ESSA remixes the title track. Full-length LP and CD to be released June 9th, 2009. Imported from Norway. Previous release on Italians Do It Better.

RUBIES "Stand in a Line" (Telle - TELLE 032) 12"  (UPC: 7035538885983 - LPRUBIEStan)

***Includes the track "Stand In Line," along with a remix and instruntal version by SHINICHI OSAWA), along with a PHIL MANLEY (TRANS AM) remix of the hit "I Feel Electric." Full-length LP and CD to be released June 9th, 2009. Imported from Norway.

NITE JEWEL "What Did He Say" (Italians Do It Better - IDIB 013) 12" (LPNITE What)

***BACK IN PRINT!!! Italians do it again! Two new underground synth pop songs from Los Angeles' NITE JEWEL. Recorded on 8-track, RAMONA G's singing is contagious, and the music is out of this world. We love this girl! Features the cuts "What Did He Say" backed with "Let's Go The Two Of Us Together." Final pressing, so don't sleep.

CHUCK RAGAN & AUSTIN LUCAS "Bristle Ridge" (Ten Four - TFR 003) LP  (LPRAGANBris)

***NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL!!! "Hello friends! I've just completed a new record with some great friends. JON GAUNT and I teamed up with AUSTIN LUCAS, his father BOB LUCAS, and Bass fiddle man DIGGER BARNES. Together we hit it off from the start and comprised a solid record of 12 numbers. What we came up with was a great and special moment unexpected by all of us there. Austin and I have planned this project for sometime now, even though this record is considered a split collaboration between all of us involved. The songs consist of 3 CHUCK RAGAN originals, 3 Austin Lucas originals, 3 Ragan/Lucas originals, 1 original by Bob Lucas, and 2 old time standards called 'Darling Corey' and 'Distant Land To Roam.' The record has a very strong sense of bluegrass, folk and old time gospel, with a certain feel of exactly where we were and what was going on when we laid it down, which was a group of strangers coming together to enjoy good food and music up in the hills on the highest point of Ohio for a week, and leaving as friends by the end. We recorded this session at Bob Lucas and LAURA GAYLE's home on top of Bristle Ridge in Zanesfield, Ohio. It was truly a sight and time to remember and we owe these kindred spirits for this great memory!"-Chuck. Gatefold jackets.

THEE OH SEES "Zork's Tape Bruise" (Kill Shaman - KSR 34R) LP+CD  (UPC: 879198003267 - LPOH SEZork)

***BACK IN STOCK!!! The LP contains home recordings, demos and crazy noise sounds. This is unlike any other OH SEES you've ever heard. It's biting, noisy and badass. Songs are catchy and dragged through a pile of distortion, tape manipulation and random instrument collisions. The CD piece contains everything they ever released on vinyl only (Intellignce split, Peanut Butter Over, etc.). They come together in one weird package that doesn't make sense. Initial pressing of 500 copies.

SPACEMEN 3 "DJ Tones" (Great Pop Supplement - GPS 44) LP (UPC: 5024545556827 - LPSPACEDJ T)

***A limited edition five-track mini-album which features two previously unreleased SPACEMEN 3 tracks, a radically different mix of the classic Spacemen 3 cover of the Red Krayola's "Transparent Radiation," appearing for the first time on CD, and the ultra rare remix of "I Love You" (originally only 50 promo white label vinyl copies were ever pressed). Rounding off this mini-album is a studio version of "Ecstasy Symphony." UK import. Limited to 1,000 copies.

A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS "Missing You" (Rocketgirl - RG 54) CDEP (UPC:5016266105620 - CDA PLAMiss)

A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS "Missing You" Rocketgirl - (RGIRL 54-7) 7" (UPC: 5016266105675 - 07A PLAMiss) ***A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS new single is taken from their eponymous, critically acclaimed debut album, released late last year amidst a flurry of hair-raising live shows. Their epilepsy-inducing set is a completely unique experience of saw-soaked tracks with eardrum piercing austerity. Such static-laden tracks could easily get lost amidst the madness, but the band's attention to the technical side of their performance makes sure that their razor-sharp precision shines though to create an aural ferocity deftly showcased on these two tracks.

CHATHAM SINGERS "Ju Ju Claudius" (Damaged Goods - DAMGOOD 327) CD (UPC: 5020422032729 - CDCHATHJu J) ***The CHATHAM SINGERS second album following their critically acclaimed debut Heavens Journey which came out in late 2005, a mixture of Blues and poetry. this time, though it's a straight blues and country album with an earthy, homespun charm, . It features the two tracks released as a limited 7" just before Christmas 2008 plus twelve others including some classic covers of songs by Slim Harpo, Jimmy Reed and Hank Williams. The core band of BILLY CHILDISH on Vox, GUITAR NURSE JULIE on Vox / Bass, WOLF HOWARD on Drums and 'BLUDY' JIM on Harp is joined on this album by GRAHAM COXON (Blur) on Guitar and JAMES TAYLOR (Prisoners / James Taylor Quartet) on Keyboard.

BATS "Guilty Office" (Yesboyicecream - YBI 12) CD (UPC: 823566058120 - CDBATSGuil)

***The BATS are acknowledged legends of New Zealand music. May 2009 sees the UK release of The Bats' 7th full-length studio album, The Guilty Office, a mere twenty-seven years since they first got together and twenty-two years since their debut album, Daddy's Highway, with the original line-up of Malcolm Grant, Paul Kean, Kaye Woodward and songwriter Bob Scott still intact. . The Guilty Office is a mesmerizing collection of pastoral folk pop and classic indiepop and a serious contender to be considered amongst The Bats' best work. Fans of Belle and Sebastian and The Clientele should lap this up.

NERO'S DAY AT DISNEYLAND "From Rotting Fantasylands"  (Cock Rock Disco - CROCK 002) CD

(UPC: 5024545553727 - cdnerosfrom) ***NERO'S DAY AT DISNEYLAND is a triumphant and bombastic art techno project orchestrated by BROCK BOUSFIELD from Oakland, California. Blending haunted 15th century sacred music with a tangled mess of burnt out electronic noise with a crushingly huge sense of scope.  Nero's Day At Disneyland seems to cram together the entire musical history of the last 2009 years. From Rotting Fantasylands is his opus and each of the fifteen tracks contained have enough Sturm und drang to power an entire city. But it's not just the speed of the music (although many of the songs go well above 200BPM) that is so exciting, rather Bousfield's ability to layer his music with ideas, melodies galore, and complex musical structures that deliver their impact on the listener. If that's your cup of tea, you'll be blown away.

ROXY EPOXY & THE REBOUND "Band Aids On Bullet Holes"  (Damaged Goods - DAMGOOD 332) CD

)UPC: 5020422033222 - CDROXY Band) ***Often associated with such fierce and striking artists as Karen O, Siouxsie Sioux, and Chrissie Hynde, ROXY EPOXY made a lasting impact on the punk and indie community in her former band, The Epoxies. Now, freshly rejuve-nated and ready to tackle the music industry with both fists and a great set of pipes, Roxy embarks on the next chapter of her musical career with her newly-minted band Roxy Epoxy And The Rebound.

WIRE "Object 47 (Special Edition)" (Pink Flag - PF 17 LP/12) LP+12" (UPC: 689492082116 - lpwireobltd)

***BACK IN STOCK!!! In the five years since the May 2003 release of their last full-length album, Send, WIRE has expounded, reviewed, contracted, lain dormant, recovered, expanded, and shed an old skin and grown a new one. Wire is not the same as it was before-but then Wire is never the same as it was before. Object 47 (the 47th object in their discography) is nonetheless only Wire's eleventh studio album. It is the second product of an arc of work that began in 2006 and has so far yielded the rather well-received EP Read And Burn 03 (from which no tracks appear on Object 47), and stands as a confident statement of where Wire is in 2008--as ever, looking forward! While retaining Wire's idiosyncratic mix of an avant-garde mindset with classic pop timing, this album boasts "tunes with zoom," a unique formula that somehow manages to sound wholly Wire (in a classic sense) and wholly contemporary. Includes a bonus 12-inch featuring all four tracks from the Read and Bun 03 EP.

CIRCLE "Triumph" (Fourth Dimension - FD 2LP73) DBL.LP (UPC: 823566430223 - LPCIRCLTriu) ***BACK IN STOCK!!! BYet another vinyl-only release by Finland's finest. This release gathers recordings for a CIRCLE session at WFMU, recorded during their second US tour and captured live on the 25th September 2007. Six cuts spread over the four sides, once more capture the self-proclaimed New Wave of Finnish Heavy Metal outfit proving themselves to be almost everything but 'Heavy Metal' despite possessing the only too apparent ability to compete with the best amongst that world. Taking in operatic vocals, unearthly mulch, psychedelic splurge, nods towards folk and krautrock, and mammoth riffs capable of knocking down nearby buildings, avant-rock has rarely arrived both so potent and in dire need of a straitjacket before. UK Import.

HOLLY GOLIGHTLY "Painted On" (Damaged Goods - DAM 324) CD (UPC: 5020422032422 - CDGOLIGPain) ***REISSUED!!!

HOLLY GOLIGHTLY "Down Gina's At 3" (Damaged Goods - DAM 326) CD (UPC: 5020422032620 - CDGOLIGDown) ***REISSUED!!!

KURT VILE "Constant Hitmaker" (Woodsist - WOODS 024) LP (LPKURT Cons)

***BACK IN STOCK!!! "KURT VILE is the nom de plume of Philadelphian KURT VILE  whose shimmering home recordings reflect the artists admiration of everything from delta blues to the minimalist agro of Suicide, the downer psyche of 39 Clocks as well as the skiffle hum of Strapping Fieldhands. In other words, a real globe trotter. Kurt has shared bills-as well as wiped the floor-with the likes of Blues Control, Pink Reason, Clock Cleaner, Times New Viking, Magik Markers, to name a few. This is his debut release. Lend him your ears."-Tom Lax (Siltbreeze)

SUNN O))) "Monoliths & Dimensions" (Southern Lord - SUNN 100) CD  (UPC: 808720010022 - CDSUNN Mono)

***SUNN O))) is proud to present their seventh studio album in 10 years of existence. The album showcases the core guitar duo-STEPHEN O'MALLEY and GREG ANDERSON-incorporating influences from a plethora of guest musicians, bringing the Sunn O))) sound to epic new levels. The band also collaborated with composer EYVIND KANG on various acoustic ensembles, in addition to the Helios fueled electric guitars and basses. Key players on the album include OREN AMBARCHI, vocalist ATTILA CSIHAR, DYLAN CARLSON (EARTH), as well as JULIAN PRIESTER (who worked with Sun Ra in the '50s, John Coltrane's African Brass band, and Herbie Hancock's Sextant band) and horn player STUART DEMPSTER. There's also an upright bass trio, French & English horns, harp & flute duo, piano, brass, reed & strings ensembles, and a Viennese woman's choir led by Persian vocal savant JESSIKA KENNEY. The album is not "SUNN O))) with strings" or "metal meets orchestra" material. The band took an approach concentrating on more of allusion toward the timbre of feedback and the instruments involved, so the piece is really illusory, beautiful, extremely heavy, poweful and not entirely linear. As can be expected the packaging for this album is beautiful and appropriately compliments the audio content. Jewel case is sheathed by a velum O-card. Expansive 24 page booklet with velum cover and specially coated heavyweight paper. Truly a site to behold!

DOG FACED HERMANS "Hum of Life" (Mississippi - MR 035) (LPDOG Fhum)

***When Mississippi Records put out the DOG FACED HERMANS' Mental Blocks For All Ages, the  obvious question from everyone involved was 'When are they gonna put out Hum Of Life?' So here it is, the follow up to Mental Blocks. Recorded in '93, DFH lays down eleven tracks of thumping drums, pulsating bass lines, most unusual guitar squacks and MARION COUTTS belting out enchanting melodies with voice and her trusty trumpet. 8 Eyed Spy and  Ornette Coleman covers (it's legit, I swear) complete this perfect album of political art-punk at its best.

RONDOS "Destroy The Entertainment"  (Red Wig - RED WIG 1) DBL.LP (LPRONDODest)

***RONDOS were around from 1978 until 1980. Besides being an art-collective who were sharing a building they used as a base to launch their commie rockets at CRASSholes, the police, nihilist punx and the corrupted consumer society at large-they made some fantastic records too. Grating repetitive stripped down angry compositions-songs is maybe not the right word. They introduced a new gestalt in the Dutch music world; aesthetically having nothing to do with rock, playing on their own terms, writing their own zines, creating D.I.Y. platforms to be inclusive and inspirational. Rehearsal spaces, gigs and stencil machines. Power to the people. This double LP collects their singles on the first side, a selection from a live concert in 1978 on the second. The second LP also contains their Redattack LP. The recordings are raw and to the point. No studio trickery, overdubs or hippy noodling here. The sound is more related to English bands like Wire, Crisis, Crass (their friends turned foes) and Gang of four. They heavily inspired a new wave of bands including The Ex, Zowiso, de Kift, the Nixe and others. Packaged with a fold-out LP-sized lyric sheet and a 24-page booklet of the band's history in English, written by Rondos singer JOHANNES VAN DE WEERT in 2009, plus lots of photos and artwork.

YELLOW TEARS "Yellow Tears" (Hospital Productions - HOS 246) LP (cdyellotear)

***"YELLOW TEARS is the sound of a drop of urine being pushed through an infected urethra. An uncomfortable attraction to the golden realms of natural expulsion, this is the audio collage equivalent of a child's worst day at a carnival as an actionist nightmare of disturbing imagery and sounds. Don't Cry shows these young masters at work carving out sculptures of depravity using god knows what for source sounds. The listener is introduced to a mostly quiet, subtle psychology of fear, childhood trauma and locked cellars. Power comes from the absence the familiar. Separating themselves from narcissistic heard, the band requires decades of therapy to begin to solve their problems. Bad dreams are supposed to be frightening."

JACK-O AND THE TENNESSEE TEARJERKERS "Disco Outlaw" (Goner - 45 GONE) LP (LPJACK-Disc)

JACK-O AND THE TENNESSEE TEARJERKERS "Disco Outlaw" (Goner - 45 - GONE) CD  (UPC: 880270274123 - cdjack disc)  ***JACK OBLIVIAN (aka JACK YARBER) has developed a cult following exploiting everything that makes rock and roll great-raw inept punk, lo-fi blues, distorto pop, rot-gut soul, fuzz-drenched twang... His story started in the '90s as a member of the COMPULSIVE GAMBLERS and THE OBLIVIANS, but Yarber has honed his craft on his five solo records since. Disco Outlaw is his first album on Memphis label Goner Records. "Yarber clearly knows his way around a catchy chorus, a memorable melody, and a mean guitar lick. In the end, these songs succeed in their simplicity and exquisite lack of bullshit."-Dusted

JACK-O AND THE TENNESSEE TEARJERKERS "Flip Side Kid" (Big Legal Mess - BLM 0217) LP

(UPC: 895102002171 -lpjack flip) ***NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL!!! The Flip Side Kid album from rock'n'roll soul man JACK OBLIVIAN (OBLIVANS, COMPULSIVE GAMBLERS, '68 COMEBACK, etc.). Fourteen powerhouse tracks of garage, soul, R&B, blues and zydeco, all ripped the way only Jack can. Features backing from name brand players MARGARET GARRETT, JIMBO MATHIS, KING LOUIE BANKSTON, MARK SULTAN, and HARLAN T. BOBO. Originally released on CD by Sympathy For The Record Industry.

BLACK RANDY & THE METROSQUAD "Pass The Dust" (Vinyl Countdown - VC 007) DBL.LP (LPBLACKMetr)

***BACK IN STOCK!!! A reissue of the legendary Pass The Dust, I Think I'm Bowie album from Los Angeles punk pioneers BLACK RANDY & THE METROSQUAD. Includes all thirteen tracks from the album, along with all four songs from the Idi Amin 7-inch, and the three cuts from the Troubles At The Cup 7-inch. Packaged in gatefold sleeves with extensive liner notes by PAT "RAND" GARRETT.

FLIPPER "Public Flipper Limited" (4 Men With Beards - 4M 515) DBL.LP  (UPC: 646315151510 - LPFLIPPPubl)

***NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL!!! Public Flipper Limited was originally released in 1986 as a double LP of live material culled from 1980-1985. The sound quality and playing are both a grimy, distorted mess, which suits the band just fine. Always alternating between endearing and abrasive, FLIPPER left no room for the middle ground of "like." The album title is a shot at John Lydon and his alleged plagiarism of Flipper's artwork for his own PIL and it proves that Flipper was never opposed to alienating its audience, no matter how sanctified. Harsh, art-rock classics from one of SF's most important post-hippy era bands. On CD format for the first time ever.

MARGINAL MAN "Identity" (Dischord - DIS 013) LP+DOWNLOAD  (LPMARGIIden)

***MARGINAL MAN was formed in 1983 after the break-up of ARTIFICAL PEACE, a seminal DC hardcore punk band. Featuring former AP members STEVE POLCARI, PETE MURRAY and MIKE MANOS, and joined with KENNY INOUYE and ANDRE LEE, Marginal Man released one EP (Identity), and two LPs (Double Image and Marginal Man), along with a couple of appearances on compilations (Alive and Kicking and State of the Union). During the band's five and a half year existence they toured North America twice, toured extensively up and down the East Coast, and played numerous shows in the DC area, culminating in a farewell show on March 24, 1988 with two sold out sets at the 930 Club. Identity was recorded in 1983 by IAN MACKAYE and DON ZIENTARA at Inner Ear Studios and was originally released as a 12-inch EP in 1984. Although Identity was reissued on CD in 1997 the vinyl has been out of print for many years. In 2009 Dischord sent the tapes to be remastered at Chicago Mastering Service and have now reissued the LP along with an MP3 download.

KINGSBURY MANX "Ascenseur Ouvert!" (Odessa - ODE O3  LP (UPC: 711574656011 - LPKINGSAsce)

***NOW AVAILABLE ON VINYL!!! It has been four long years since we last heard from THE KINGSBURY MANX. But if the strength of this new batch of songs is any indication, it has been well  worth the wait. From the upbeat Brill-pop of "Over The Oeuvre" to the spidery guitar hooks that punctuate the shuffle of "Well, Whatever" to the somber chamber-creepiness of "Minos Maze," Ascenseur Ouvert! (broken French for Elevator Open!) is full of pleasant surprises and great pop songwriting. Fans of smart vocal harmonies will be smiling ear to ear upon hearing the six part vocal rondo in the coda of "Indian Isle."  Rave reviews in Dusted, Magnet, Independent Weekly, and Prefix, plus an 8.1 on Pitchfork.

BLACK MOTH SUPER RAINBOW "Eating Us" (Graveface - GRAVE 045) CD (UPC: 643157403456 - CDBLACKEati) ***After a year of eerie, stilted silence, the sun shines and the shadows reappear. BLACK MOTH SUPER RAINBOW has crept from the forests and cities to make Eating Us, their dark bubblegum freakout for 2009. The first fully hi-fi BMSR record, Eating Us, adds space and dimension to the band's sticky, off-kilter melodies. This isn't an album about witches and woods, and this time around the band isn't letting on to what it all might mean. Because to them, it's just better that way.

TARTUFI "Nests Of Waves And Wire" (Southern - 281552) CD (UPC: 718752815529 - CDTARTUNest)

***This San Francisco duo, much praised for their awe-inspiring live sets and loop-heavy soundscapes, have taken their sonic vision to the next level. After three years of experimentation within their performance, both on-stage and in the studio, the band has developed their craft into an art form. Tartufi welcomed engineer and co-producer Tim Green back into the control room and spent over four months recording and mixing what has become their most ambitious work to date. Further exploring the boundaries of vocal and instrumental layering, poly-rhythmic deconstruction and song arrangement, Nests of Waves and Wire is a lush and weighty mix of the band's compositional sensibilities and sonic capabilities. Having created a sound both entirely refreshing and wholly vital, the momentum behind them shows no sign of slowing. Sounding like a 10-piece band backed by a full choir, NOWAW is a refreshing breach within the realm of today's popular music.

LAVA CHILDREN "Four Spells" (Graveface - GRAVE 042 LP) 12" (LPLAVA Four )

LAVA CHILDREN "Four Spells" (Graveface - GRAVE 042 CD) CDEP (CDLAVA Four)

***The LAVA CHILDREN is SHERRI WEST and TAYLOR CLARK, two Okies who've been living in sin since 1996. And with this, their self-titled debut EP, they've created eerie masterpieces that bring about feelings of nostalgia while immediately making the listener aware that they are witness to something completely uncommon. From the dreamy, weirdly programmed ColecoVision-on-the-fritz nonsense of opening track, "I Am a Pony," to the underwater opium cabaret wash of "Particles," to the discordant, drunk music box stagger of "Troll," every track on this release bears the same distinctive stamp of not sounding a whole lot like anything else you've heard.

PRETTY THINGS / PHILIPPE DEBARGE "s/t" (Ugly Things - UT 2207) LP  (LPPRETTPHIL)

***BACK IN PRINT ON VINYL!!! 1969, SF Sorrow is done and dusted. Parachute is yet to come. THE PRETTY THINGS are at their creative peak with no outlet in sight. Enter PHILIPPE DEBARGE: Frenchman, playboy, and Pretty Things superfan. He commissions the band to write and produce an album for him. Debarge and the five Pretty Things duly enter Nova Studios, one of London's first eight-track facilities. With access to this new technology they experiment with multi-tracking and an array of psychedelic effects. Debarge sings lead, and the Pretty Things play and sing everything else on a stunning set of 12 May/Waller originals in the classic late '60s Pretty Things style, many of them never recorded by the band before or since. Acoustic, fuzz and backwards guitars abound, along with Mellotron, harpsichord and the unmistakable heavenly three-part harmonies of PHIL MAY, WALLY WALLER and JON POVEY. The album is completed, but never released. Until now. Limited edition deluxe vinyl edition. Just 1,000 pressed. Heavy duty glossy color LP jacket with insert and full liner notes by MIKE STAX. Cover art by PHIL SMEE. Fully re-mastered in magnificent full stereo hi-fidelity sound with the close collaboration of original co-producer Wally Waller. Fully sanctioned and approved by the Pretty Things.

PYGMY LUSH / TURBOSLUT "Split" (Exotic Fever - EXOTIC 34 V) LP (LPPYGMYTurb)

***The five fellows of PYGMY LUSH have cut their teeth in some of Northern Virginia's most influential punk/hardcore bands of the last decade or so, including PPG.99, MAJORITY RULE, MALADY, CITY OF CATERPILLAR, CRESTFALLEN, HISSING CHOIR, and many more. TURBOSLUT materialized to resist the meaninglessness consuming its constituents. Ineffable guiding principles, the least of which any common musical purpose, converged in haphazard seance with the astral plane, and an order of four was born: unapologetic, lurching, recklessly honed. An unassuming public bore first witness in harrowing sagas of of collision hypnosis, incantation, and cryptic messaging. To the delight of some and the alarm of many more, the order blossomed into an elusive paradigm of cassette-taped documentation, vague iconography, and live performance as its occult electricity and crushing, unprecedented girl-sludge rent a scorching path across the landscape of a jilted, belligerent counter-culture.

WEAKENDS "s/t" (Rob's House - RHR 046) LP  (LPWEAKEs/t)

***"Bordeaux, France's WEAKENDS are back with the follow-up to their debut seven-inch. This time it's with a long-player that finds the group still banging away, stillsinging through broken PA's, still rocking and still claiming the title of France's best garage band. Limited to 1000 copies.

DUSTIN WONG "Seasons" (Wildfire Wildfire - LPWONG Seas) LP+DOWNLOAD  (LPWONG Seas)

(STREET DATE - 6/02/2009) ***Seasons is DUSTIN WONG's first full length release, available on LP only (with download card included). It is a collection of work recorded throughout the past few years, curated by the season each was written in. The range of sonic energy truly is like frequent changes of light and scenery, the inherent extremities of speed throughout the year and throughout Dustin's life-a life as much about diligent contemplation as it is about a dedication to play. Amazingly, this is only a small glimpse into the collection of impressive song writing Dustin has created in his 25 years. Dustin Wong is a member of PONYTAIL and a former member of ECSTATIC SUNSHINE.

JON MIKL THOR "Sign of the V" (Vulcan Sky - VSR 1915) CD (UPC: 628740119624 - cdthor sign)

***Vulcan Sky Records And Vancouver Millionaires Sports Ltd. unleash the new album from  rock music, film and body building star JON MIKL THOR (aka THOR). The label originally planned to release the album for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, but NHL Canucks executives requested use of the first track "Vancouver Millionaires" as a motivator and promotional tool for the team. The Canucks have been playing the song at games and are promoting the album at the team stores. Pump up the volume.

GAY BEAST "Second Wave" (Skin Graft - GR 093) CD  (UPC: 647216609322 - CDGAY Bseco)

GAY BEAST "Second Wave" (Skin Graft - GR 093) LP  (UPC: 647216609315 - LPGAY Bseco)

***Join Skin Graft for the coming out dance party of the year as GAY BEAST ride the Second Wave straight onto the streets! Formed in 2005 and renowned as Minnesota's premier agit-prog queer band, Gay Beast cuts a careening groove between the prickly corners of tunefulness and musical density, danceability and controlled chaos. On Second Wave, their sophomore effort and first release on Skin Graft Records, the trio lets fly with utopic visions of second-wave feminism, exposing a mood-swinging musical reach heretofore unheard. The nuclear family explodes into a psychedelic mushroom cloud of writhing, urgent vocals set against the precise, premeditated clatter of guitar, drums and keys. Add a dash of electronic psych, and a spoonful of sax-and your goose is cooked. Extensively adorned with hand silk-screened sleeves and insert.

RUINS "Vrresto" (Skin Graft -  GR 76) CD (UPC: 647216607625 - cdRUINSVrre)

***BACK IN PRINT!!! A remixed and remastered domestic reissue of the eleventh album from Japan's devastating bass-and-drums duo RUINS. Vrresto continues the group's freeform avalanche tumble through the genres, exploding in a burst of prog-rock, punk rock, hardcore and free jazz glory. Includes two previously unreleased bonus tracks.

UNKNOWN INSTRUCTORS "Funland" (Smog Veil - SV 68) CD  (UPC: 711574656820 - CDUNKNOFunl)

***A third sprawling improv free jazz and punk workout from JOE BAIZA, GEORGE HURLEY, MIKE WATT and DAN MCGUIRE, along with special guests DAVID THOMAS and RAYMOND PETTIBON. "The record may not appeal to the flannel throngs of Minutemen memorialists, but for anyone slightly excited by Pere Ubu, John Coltrane and Albert Ayler, and Saccharine Trust's periphery, this will be welcomed."-Left Of The Dial

LIQUOR BALL "Evolutionary Squalor" (Rocketship - RS 0203) LP (LPLIQUOEvol)

***The infamous LIQUOR BALL return with another live dose of full-on blown rock action. Joined by legendary sax man STEVE MACKAY (STOOGES) among others, the band tears through a live set recorded at Grady's Record Refuge in Ventura, California, April 4, 2008.

EL MICHELS AFFAIR "Enter the 37th Chamber" (Fat Beats - FB 5127) LP  (UPC: 659123512718 - LPEL MIEnte)

***BACK IN STOCK!!! As a part of the same Brooklyn funk/soul revival led by groups like the Dap Kings, Budos Band, and Menahan Street Band, EL MICHELS AFFAIR have been on the lips of soul enthusiasts and tastemakers for a while. Fat Beats Records proudly releases their new album Enter the 37th Chamber, which picks up where the popular 7inches for "C.R.E.A.M." and "Bring Da Ruckus" left off-full instrumental reinterpretations of classic tracks by the Wu-Tang Clan.  RZA's raw soundscapes translate perfectly to the vibe of El Michels Affair's "cinematic soul," and beats from more than a dozen Wu anthems get proper do-overs courtesy of one of the hottest bands in the biz.

SAVATH & SAVALAS "La Llama" (Stones Throw - STH 2215) DBL.LP (UPC: 659457221522 - LPSAVATLa L)

***Many of those familiar with the tireless musician, producer and songwriter GUILLERMO SCOTT HERREN often cite his PREFUSE 73 as favorites from his vast catalog which has inspired a new generation of producers (Flying Lotus, Dabrye, Hudson Mohawke, etc). Guillermo has always remained one step ahead of the pack though by diversifying his sounds outside of the 'glitch hop' universe. With a love for South-American psychedelic music and Catalan folk melodies, Herren found inspiration for La Llama in the early '70s independent music scene that had briefly flourished in Recife, Brazil. Stones Throw is proud to release this record. Somehow a minimal Catalan psych-folk album inspired by Brazilian counter-current musical giants falls in line with Mars Volta-leader Omar Rodiguez Lopez's prog-rock opus Old Money and Madlib's Beat Konducta 5&6, a tribute to J.Dilla. It is sure that this album, an acoustic excursion, drenched in PUYELO MUNS' breathy vocals, maintains some of the minimal electronic sensibilities that Herren allows to run throughout his different guises.

OFEGE "Try And Love" (Academy - ALP 001) LP  (UPC: 879198003007 - LPOFEGETry)

OFEGE "Try And Love" (Academy - ACD 001) CD  (UPC: 879198003014 - CDOFEGETry)

***BACK IN STOCK!!! Long acknowledged as a masterpiece of psychedelic Afro-Rock, Academy Records is proud to present the debut of Nigerian group OFEGE. Recorded while the band members were still in high school, Ofege's debut album Try And Love was originally recorded & released in 1973. Due to their vibrant combo of sweet harmonies, hooks & fuzz, they would become one of the most legendary Nigerian groups of all time. Fully licensed and painstakingly mastered from the best possible sources, Try and Love is available as a high quality virgin vinyl pressing and a deluxe digipack CD. Both versions have brand new liner notes with an interview about the recordings of Try And Love.

JOHN VANDERSLICE "Romanian Names" (Dead Oceans - DOC 026) CD (UPC: 656605132624 - CDVANDERoma)  ***The most noteworthy thing about JOHN VANDERSLICE'S new album is this: Romanian Names is the best record he's made to date. The twelve songs represent a career-defining moment, a pitch-perfect collection written and recorded with the utmost care and attention. Vanderslice is certainly not the first artist to make such a leap several albums into a career-think Guided by Voices on Bee Thousand, Spoon's Kill the Moonlight or Of Montreal's Sunlandic Twins. JV's newest makes that colossal step and separates itself from an already top-notch body of work. Throughout Romanian Names, JV sings with a newfound, unwavering confidence.

CURIOUS MYSTERY "Rotting Slowly" (K Records - KLP 206) CD (UPC: 789856120628 - CDCURIORott)

***THE CURIOUS MYSTERY place an emphasis on dense sonic texture and unorthodox song structures.  Their debut album, Rotting Slowly has a vast implied distance and textural tension, canvassing canyons and turning tight corners. SHANA CLEVELAND, a Midwestern daughter of Blues and Country musicians and NICOLAS GONZALEZ, an experimental instrumentalist from Texas, split vocal duties; hers is silky, his familiar and they wind around each other in an organic swirl of skeletal percussion, tangled guitars, Eastern drones and multiple tempos.

JONATHAN KANE "Jet Ear Party" (Radium - TOE CD 816) CD  (UPC: 806501181626 - cdkane jet)

***Jet Ear Party, JONATHAN KANE's second full-length release, is a masterpiece of raw, ass-thumping Americana that shakes the meat right off the bone. With guest appearances from members of his live band, FEBRUARY, Kane barrels into these eight tracks like a freight train. He lunges at breakneck boogies and tom-driven swamp stomps with equal abandon. In a radical departure, he tones down his mojo long enough to accommodate female vocals for a breathlessly sexy, overtone-drenched soul ballad. Kane even pilots hardcore R&B a la Wilson Pickett into the Creedence bayou for a sweat-soaked cover of Sly Stone's "Thank You Fallettinme Be Mice Elf Agin"-and it's got a freak-out bagpipe solo that would make The Stooges proud.

HERMAS ZOPOULA "Espoir" (Asthmatic Kitty - AKR 52) DBL.CD (UPC: 656605605227 - CDZOPOUEspo)

***HERMAS ZOPOULA is many things. He is the youngest of 36 children. Born in a small village named Yoro, he is Burkinabe, a citizen and resident of Burkina Faso, West Africa. He is a moped enthusiast, orphanage volunteer, and internet cafe proprietor. Hermas is also a psalmist, and Espoir is his first international recording. Hermas sings in four different languages on the album: French, English, Dioula, and Sissali (Hermas' mother tongue). The only way to introduce Hermas' sound was to release Espoir as a two disc set. The first disc, recorded in a government studio in Burkina Faso, presents a refined and practiced Hermas. But the Hermas on the second disc is the one most Burkinabes know, just him and his guitar in his backyard. Comparisons to singer/song-writer Seu Jorge are inevitable, but listeners will find Hermas' voice sweeter and warmer. Other audible influences in Hermas' music are  Afro-pop pioneer Thomas Mapfumo and Toumani Diabate's Symmetric Orchestra.

CASPER & THE COOKIES "Modern Silence" (Happy Happy Birthday To Me - HHBTM 109) CD

(UPC: 795103606128 - CDCASPEMode) ***Beginning life as JASON NESMITH's cassette four-track project with an ever-changing name, CASPER & THE COOKIES grew into a live band in 1998. KAY STANTON is the only one left from these early lineups. Kay and Jason recorded 2004's Oh! and 2006's The Optimist's Club with a revolving cast of musicians. The Cookies took a back seat in 2004 when NeSmith joined OF MONTREAL, but he left in early 2005 to work on The Optimist's Club. Others have joined and left, but the band marches on.

MARSHMALLOW COAST "Phreak Phantasy" (Happy Happy Birthday To Me - HHBTM 108) CD

(UPC: 795103606227 - CDMARSHPhre) ***MARSHMALLOW COAST flew out of the trash of Denver like a phoenix in the pre-apocalyptic year of 1996. ANDY FROM DENVER (aka ANDY GONZALES, GONZALES ANDY, ANDY SAILBOAT, A.G. FORRESTER) began his career on 4-track, with a love for French impressionistic classical and a jazz back ground. With each successive release has been a quest for refinement of the pure pop number. Underlying his many production growth spurts through each album is his quirky take on human existence. Though the lyrics may seem deep and mysterious, those that know Andy realize that he is generally trying to deliver dead pan comedy. Recently, he has devoted much time to drum machine programming and honing his unique guitar playing, which is at times jazzy and other times blisteringly on fire. The band currently consists of Andy, his internal monologue (a la Wonder Years), and SARA KIRKPATRICK doing triple duty on flute, keyboards, and Dj-ing.

DAN DEACON "Spiderman of the Rings" (Wildfire Wildfire - WFWF 003) LP  (LPDEACOSpid)

***BACK IN STOCK!!! A brand new album from Baltimore-based electronic artist and classically trained composer DAN DEACON-who sports a Masters degree in electroacoustic composition. Spiderman of the Rings is a nine-track blast of sweat-and-grime-soaked electronics that form the foundation of Deacon's raging, maxed-out party music, intricate instrumentals, and humorous monologues. Pressed on white vinyl and packaged in gatefold sleeves.

BLUE SABBATH BLACK CHEER "DDTTNB" (Anarchymoon - LPBLUE DDTT) LP  (LPBLUE DDTT)

***BSBC tear us a new one on their latest slab of sublime filth DDTTNB (Destructively Dedicated to the New Blockaders). This surly one-sided 12-inch delivers 15 minutes of unyielding harsh beauty, using amplified cement mixers as well as source material from the NEW BLOCKADERS RUPENUS brothers, roiling and thrashing about within BSBC's trademark "dark and heavy, violently bleak horror-noise" sound machine. Released in an edition of 200, this deluxe package includes two-tone screen-print covers by the inimitable Seizure Palace, with the record screen-printed on the blank side. Get them before they get you.

BOB BELLERUE & JARRETT SILBERMAN "Amplified Piano Duets" (Anarchymoon - LPBELLEAMPL) 12"

(LPBELLEAmpl)  ***A lost journey to unknown planets, defective machinery, dead pilots at the controls. Recorded in late 2006, in the waning light of the Il Corral, when free pianos roamed the wild west. Each album comes with a one-sided 12-inch of the essential set of the session, as well as a CDR of all the recordings. Edition of 200, paste-on Xerox covers, rubberstamped labels.

LOCRIAN "Drenched Lands" (Small Doses - DOSE 43) CD  (CDLOCRIDren)

***BACK IN STOCK!!! Since 2005, LOCRIAN have been zeroing in on the right blend of noise, power electronics, dark ambient, and black metal. Drenched Lands unfolds with an almost narrative structure: it slowly descends into a dark abyss, moving torturedly, gradually rediscovering the light, then leaving you where everything began-completely transformed. The hour-long disc is rounded out by an extended bonus track previously unavailable in any digital format. Black-on-black disc packaged in an arigato pack with a 4-panel insert.

FOLKLORDS "Release The Sunshine" (Pacemaker / Lion Productions - PACE 047 LN) CD (UPC: 778578004729 -CDFOLKLRele) ***A reuissue of the Release The Sunshine album from this folk-rock quartet from Toronto, originally issued on the highly desirable Allied label (Plastic Cloud, Reign Ghost, Intersystems) in 1968. MARTHA JOHNSON strums the autoharp and sings, and every track is infused with that innocent, simple charm that seemingly hung in the air in those bygone days. And, for you seekers of the 'obscure', here's a band that didn't rate a single mention in any Canadian magazine of the era. No matter, the fact remains that the FOLKLORDS' Release the Sunshine is a captivating album, a notion shared by the many collectors worldwide who fight for original copies, which are few and far between. Glorious sound from the master-tapes, and packaged with a booklet featuring band photos and the few scraps of information that could be found.

JARDINE "Look in the Window" (Lion Productions - LION 624) CD (UPC: 778578062422 - CDJARDILook)

***"Look in the Window was recorded in three glorious weeks in June 1969, at Sounds Aquarian Studios, a stone's throw from that justifiably famous fashion hub, Carnaby Street. Now, forty years later, you can be among the first to discover the brooding excellence of these tracks, music both strange and sinister, with moments of fragile beauty. There are some very pretty songs here (haunting melodies abound) and songs perhaps more akin to the band Comus than to anything else we have encountered from the psychedelic era. There are also heavy guitar solos, churning organ, flute, and flowing sitar, for good measure. A 16-page booklet includes a band history lyrics, and comments on the songs by Keith Law. A lost jewel of late-60's UK psychedelia, from a short-lived but charismatic band.

Punk & Hard Stuff...

SMALLTOWN "Implosion" (Deranged - DY 133) CD  (UPC: CDSMALLImpl)

SMALLTOWN "Implosion" (Deranged - DY 132) LP

***SMALLTOWN's second full-length is Implosion and as expected, it is a total melodic punk explosion. More of the same great melodic mod influenced punk found on their last album, The Music-full of ultra catchy, anthemic songs with raw tuneful vocals and teeth clenching riffs. Think the Strike and Stiff Little Fingers. Their last single was hailed as 'one of the best disc of the decade' in MRR. US tour in the works for this summer.

THRONEUM "Deathmass of the Gravedancer" (Hells Headbangers - LPTHRONDEAT) LP  (LPTHRONDeat)

***"Ancient Nightmarish Death Terror Metal. Born in the deepest dungeons of hell, Deathmass Of The Gravedancer is their most bestial album and finally gets vinyl treatment as it deserves. Features one bonus track not available on the CD. Influenced by thousands of '80s and early '90s Death/Speed/Black/Thrash Unholy Gods, THRONEUM stands in opposition to all the happy pseudo death/black metal shit of today! No originality, no own style, no musical progression, only aggressive, raw and ugly Metal as it should be! If you aren't into Necrovore, Terrorizer, Blasphemy, Nihilist, Bestial Warlust, Possessed, Imperator, Asphyx and Merciless-keep away from THRONEUM!!! This is Pure Total Death!"

MANTICORE / MORBOSIDAD "Invocation of the Beast" (Hells Headbangers - CDMANTIMORB) CD

(CDMANTIMorb) ***"Commemorating both bands 2009 Sangre De La Bestia mini-tour, we've been asked to press a limited edition cassette & CD version of their sold out Invocation Of The War Beasts 7-inch EP from 2004 (also released on HHR). Features twelve punishing minutes of blackened bestial fucking death not on any of their albums! Limited pressing of 300 copies only sold by HHR and on the bands' tour."

HAVOHEJ "Man and Jinn" (Necroscope - CDHAVOHMAN) CD  (CDHAVOHMan)

***"Original and out-of-print pressing on Necroscope Productions still in plastic shrinkwrap!  One of the most extreme & controversial bands to ever walk the face of this earth. Spawned from the black heart of darkness by single minded black soul with goals of unleashing hell on god's green earth , PAUL LEDNEY & his brood of merri-men spew forth black vomit from the darkest reaches of the abyss."

TIPPER'S GORE "s/t" (Flat Black - CDTIPPES/T) CD  (CDTIPPEs/t)

***NOW AVAILABLE ON CD!!! Debut album by these young California skate punk whipper snappers. They're loud, fast, thrashy, and make reference to censorship debates that raged probably before most of them were born. They record and release their own records, run a record label themselves and create a whirlwind ruckus not unlike something you'd have found on Mystic Records in yesteryear.

WYRD "Ghost Album" (Kreation - CDWYRDGhos) CD (CDWYRDGhos)

***The Ghost Album marks another great chapter in WYRD's somewhat surprisingly underground career. Wyrd is old news for most ambient/folk black metal fans, so there's no need for introduction other than saying this band has held a very strong and unique style for quite a few albums. Minimalistic and extreme at times, but melodic and ambient most of the times. The bands style has been growing and evolving over the last several years.  And this album is no exception.mThe changes continue and develop in the shape of an almost completely new style. With a very noticeable and new doom influence and with marked rock-inspired riffs, this new style is at times reminiscent of early works but also at times reminds one of more recent Drudkh, or even Swallow the Sun. This is a very doom-death influenced album and is yet another fine chapter in the tale of Wyrd.

Seven Inches...

VIVIAN GIRLS "Wild Eyes" (Wild World - WW 02) 7"  (07VIVIAWild)

***NOW AVAILABLE!!! The "Wild Eyes" / "My Baby Wants Me Dead" 7-inch from THE VIVIAN GIRLS released on their own Wild World imprint. Edition of 2,000 copies on black vinyl.

VIBES "Psychic" (Not Not Fun - NNF 159) 7"  (07VIBESPsyc)

***"Every family has a freak (or two). Every deck's got a wild card. We've got VIBES. Ante up. NNF's loosest cannons return to the recording fray with, Psychic, a blown-out briar patch of basement garage fantasy masquerading as obscurist protest funk-and the band's first vinyl statement. Recorded in Eagle Rock on a 'last legs'-style 4-track, the EP's four songs are jacked deep in the red, with fuzz bass, wah shrapnel, vocal sloganeering, and drum racket all fighting for tape room. Competition is fierce. Recent live faves like 'Dead Horses' and 'Night Court' appear in particularly revved-up form, as do the first two Vibes songs ever written, 'Psychic' and 'Prisms Of Fame.' All bases are covered. All soul trains are derailed. Here comes the judge. Black vinyl 33 RPM singles in full-color fold-over sleeves with collage artwork and lettering by CAMERON STALLONES, photographs by CAITLIN C. MITHCELL, plus a rant-y revolution scrapbook insert. Edition of 400."-NNF

TELEVISION PERSONALITIES "My New Tattoo" (Good Village - GVR 2) 7"  (07TELEVMy N)

***BACK IN STOCK!!! What can one expect from an artful, aging mod? Cult favorites, THE TELEVISION PERSONALITIES, offer up two new, well crafted, melodic and spirited pop songs on this 7-inch.  Both sides are steeped in the charming intelligence and humor of the band's auteur DANIEL TREACY. In "My New Tattoo," Treacy lays out his aged and vulnerable self and builds into a Who-like reverie of take me for what I am!  Here the band is focused, direct, and in top form. A rocking, rallying call to those who may never quite fit in and know its for the better! Drumming is provided by JOHN BENNETT who fans will recognize as an original member dating back to the mid-'70s and who also appeared on the John Peel favored first single, "14th Floor/ Oxford St. W1." "Funny He Never Married" paints a wistful and reflective mood of which Treacy has always been a master of conveying.  This is a sound which has launched so many bands and scenes; all of whom owe Daniel Treacy a nod (or a wink) for inspiration.  Sensitive and personal, yet utterly familiar and comforting in spirit.  The magic of pop shines brightly here! Released in 2009 with cover artwork from California artist STACIE WILLOUGHBY and limited to a pressing of 500 copies.

DE CYLINDERS "I Wanna Get Married" (Sing Sing - SING 006) 7" (07DE CYI Wa)

***DE CYLINDERS, a six piece power pop band from the Netherlands, had a solid reputation as a live band in the Netherlands and Belgium playing along side bands such as the Pretenders and Ultravox. They recorded this 45, their first of three for the CNR label, in 1979 at Soundpush studios, Blaricum with DENNIS KLOETH acting as producer. The playing on the 45's is tight, the production is spot-on and the songs are extremely well crafted. The anthemic "I Wanna Get Married" did not permeate deeply into the personal life of the band members; as of today not more than two Cylinders are wearing a wedding ring. The back side, "Looking For Work" was more prophetic: all six Cylinders are nowadays firmly employed, though five of them no longer in the music business. Sing Sing is a new punk and new wave reissue label founded by the folks at Rob's House.

JETZ "Catch Me" (Sing Sing - SING 004) 7"  (07JETZCatc)

***A rock band from Cheshunt, in Hertfordshire, active from 1974 as RED WHYMAN with a lineup comprising ALEX KINDER), TRACY GRAHAM), TONY SKEGGS, DENNIS PUGSLEY, and PAUL TITCHMARSH. Having signed a deal with Rebel Records (a subsidiary of EMI), late in 1976 the combo recorded three tracks at London's Majestic Studios. Early in 1977 Red Whyman changed moniker to JETZ, recruited new drummer STEVE BYE and changed their set in a New Wave direction. Two further songs were taped, again at Majestic Studios, with DAVE "HOWIE" HOWMAN producing. One of them, "If That's What You Really Want," would remain unreleased, but the other, an enjoyable Powerpopper with Punk overtones entitled "Catch Me," would surface on the A-side of a single only issued in Holland, Belgium, Germany and Scandinavia between the end of 1977 and the beginning of 1978.

TIME BOMBS "Kill Music" (Flat Black - 07TIME KILL) 7"  (07TIME Kill)

***TIMEBOMBS' second EP shows us a huge progression from their Society's To Blame/ Doc Brown 7-inch. Their first EP was reminiscent of Mystic bands but this release sounds a lot like early FU's meets Koro. The raw '80s style recording makes one think of hardcore gems like the Mecht Mensch Acceptance 7-inch or an early Fartz record. Fast, youthful tunes with heart and a sense of humor.

BAD REACTION "Plastic World" (Flat Black - 07BAD RPLAS) 7" (07BAD Rplas)

***Another release from this great LA band. With influences all over the place, BAD REACTION bring us four songs that all stand out but somehow flow together. Zero Boys definitely come to mind, but pair that with Descendents-style bass lines, intricate guitar work, and the speed and intensity of Minor Threat and you have Bad Reaction. Hardcore that grabs you but is catchy at the same time.

GOATSODOMY / NUNSLAUGHTER "Split" (Hells Headbangers - 07GOATSNUNS) 7"  (07GOATSNuns)

***NUNSLAUGHTER with two never-before-released songs ("Necromancy" and "The Creeper") originally featured on the unreleased Seven Deadly Sins 2005 demo circulated only to close contacts. Finland's GOATSODOMY play warring bestial Death Metal as displayed on the Trampling the Holy Faith compilation LP with Profanatica. Their set list includes "Antichrist 666" (unreleased from the 2005 demo), "Nightbeast" (unreleased from the 2004 demo), and a NunSlaughter cover track of "Sacrificial Zombie." Pressed with special packaging & cover artwork by the legendary DREW ELLIOT.

A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS "Missing You" Rocketgirl - (RGIRL 54-7) 7" (UPC: 5016266105675 - 07A PLAMiss) ***See listing above with compact disc

GOATLORD / NUNSLAUGHTER "Split" (Hells Headbangers - 07GOATLNUNS) PICTURE DISC 7"

(07GOATLNuns) ***Limited edition picture disc edition. Two of the finest ancient American Death Metal bands joined in darkness. NUNSLAUGHTER continues their tradition of straightforward, savage Devil Metal Death with an exclusive track as well as their interpretation of the GOATLORD classic "The Fog." From the catacombs, Goatlord brings forth two haunting, ritualistic hymns from a long lost rehearsal tape, that will satiate longtime followers of this cult and bewitch the uninitiated! Hear the ghouls chant... finally time has come to join our rotting Hell!

BARBATOS / BLUDWULF "Split" (Hells Headbangers - 07BARBABLUD) 7"  (07BARBABlud)

***A match louder than hell! BARBATOS with two brand new studio songs played in their well-known style of Kamikaze headbangin' metal punk! The full metal warriors of BLUDWULF howl a wicked dose of '80s UK punk, thrash and foreign hardcore to match their bullet belt style. All songs are exclusive to this record. Now let's fucking die!

EXPO 70 / I AM SEAMONSTER "Split" (Small Doses - DOSE 32) 7" (07EXPO I Am)

***BACK IN STOCK!!! EXPO 70 offers up an amazing piece of guitar drone while IAS's fuzzed-out drone has an odd sort of pop sensibility bubbling underneath the distortion. Edition of 285 copies on black vinyl packaged in a two-color, silk screened cover.
